Living Off The Grid - What Does It Mean?
The shortage of power, the rapid consumption of non-renewable energy, the ever-increasing demand for power supply, the daily warnings about our environment are enough signs to tell us that its time we do something.
How can we help? To start with, we could start living off the grid. This may be a shocking proposal to you, but allow me to elaborate. Living off the grid would not only cut down your electricity costs. It would also help to preserve power, which would in turn would be beneficial to the environment.
Living off the grid. What does it mean?
For the supply of electricity, sewerage and water. We remain dependent on the service companies to supply our needs. They all have a infrastructure they use to convey their services to us. This is what is normally referred to as “The Grid”.
Living off the grid means that we become self sufficient in various ways so that we are no longer dependent on all the service suppliers.
Now let us take a closer look at some of the advantages of living off the grid.
1. We would reduce our dependability on the already exhausting resources. Let’s face it, do we want to remain dependent on public utility companies for ever? By living off the grid you would only rely on the natural resources instead of the services you get from the corporations and government.
The major plus factor here, would be that you would not have the inconvenience of power outages. That always seem to happen when you are watching your favorite program on TV. Or when you are engrossed in a important job that you are busy with. Well, by using natural alternate power. These interruptions would be thing of the past.
2. The freedom to use the abundant naturally available resources without restrictions. Wouldn’t it be great if you could use as much natural power as you like to light up your home, cook your food, or for whatever reason. Without any concern about power costs?
3. Reduced power costs, helping save your money. How would you feel if the electricity bills stop coming in your letter box? The alternate power solutions give you a return on investment very soon, thus making the power supply to your home eventually free!
4. By reducing the demand on the rapidly vanishing non-renewable resources. Not only would we be contributing to the creation of a greener, healthier environment. We would also be making sure that our fragile planet will be preserved for our future generations.
If you are thinking it is not very feasible to live off the grid, look for alternate power solutions and you will be surprised to learn that they are not only cost-effective but also extremely feasible.
